Does anyone ever really hear from God?

Many times, I have heard people say that God told them that they should do this or that. Is it really possible in this day and age that someone really hears, I mean physically hears, from God?

Hebrews tells us that God speaks to us in these last days through His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things (Heb 1:2). So, if we listen to His Son, who is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of God’s nature (Heb 1:3), then we CAN listen to God.

We find the actual words of Jesus in the NT. In fact many bible versions today contain His words in red. In reality, Jesus is on each and every page of the bible. God’s nature, His glory and His voice is found in His word.

As you read and yes, study, His word, you will hear from God. You can count on it.

Do I pray with Deceitful Lips

This is a question one needs to ask when one prays to God. Is one’s intention pure and holy and lined up in accordance to the will of God. One certainly hopes so.

But, notice the boldness of David as he addressed God in Psalm 17:1. He said, “Hear a just cause, O LORD, give heed to my cry; Give ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.”

David is telling God that his prayer is true and unselfish.

I’m not saying we pray with deceit intentionally. But, our prayers and supplications are made under the full weight of God’s intentions and not our own. Professional athletes warm up before playing. We need to do the same before we pray. Ask God to lead us in pray. As David says in Psalm 18:28, “For You light my lamp; The LORD my God illumines my darkness.”

When God Gives you a Blessing

When God gives you a blessing, do you hoard it? Are you sharing your riches with someone else?

I’m not talking about taking from the rich and giving to the poor. But, I’m asking if you share the blessings of God with others. As He has blessed you do you bless others? God gave everything He had to purchase your soul. He held nothing back. What are you holding back?

This isn’t about physical wealth but the spiritual wealth God has given us through His Son, the LORD Jesus Christ.

Freely, you have received. Freely give.

Musing on a Wednesday Morning

LORD, how is it that I can be so busy doing nothing but when it comes to You, I don’t seem to have enough time? Father, show me in Your Word where I can settle down. I know Matthew 11:28 talks about coming to You and finding rest. Why is it so difficult for me? Why can’t I let go? Help me, LORD, help me!
